5 words

Imagine you could only say 5 words about your product. What would they be?

Guess what, online you may have less. If someone doesn’t “get” your product at first glance, they’re on to the next site.

Why can’t the world understand this? This is another one of the problems of SEO. SEMs want to write pages full of text to pack in the keywords. Too much text leads to people leaving your site. SEMs who you hired to market your site are getting people to your site, but also making them leave. Which is really more important, getting them there or keeping them? I think we all know.

I have to disagree - SEO in itself means to optimize your site for search engines. Anyone who doesn’t do that is wasting out on a massive chunk of potential traffic.

Professional SEMs have one goal - to not only get you targeted traffic, but also to close that traffic. And these professionals know mounds of text won’t do that trick :)

Ahmed - sure, there are some that do it well, but I have certainly come across some that really overemphasize the text and want to put too much on the page. I haven’t really been fair to SEMs today, but that’s because I’ve seen some pretty ugly examples as of late - I’ll try to find something good to say before long.

And I’ll reiterate that the majority of sites that I see have too much text. With many new web based businesses, I find myself taking longer and longer to even figure out what some of them are. But even worse tend to be the sites of brick and mortars, too many look like they’ve just dumped a brochure onto the site.

I’m not going to accept your argument :)

There are ugly examples of everything in life, be it SEO to politics. Just become some people under a banner do improper things does not make the actual subject (eg SEO here) invalid.

There are a ton of SEO scams. That doesn’t make SEO any less valid.

I personally am also tired of the shift to less and less and less text. Society is becoming ADD riddled.
