Mars.

I’m sorry. I don’t get it. I guess I’m not nerd enough. I’m just not that excited about the Mars exploration. Please, enlighten me, with all that’s happening in the world, why should I be concerned and hopelessly excited about this Mars Curiosity mission? The name – Curiosity – even implies that we know it’s probably a waste of time.

“Hey, you want to go to Mars?”

“Why?”

“I don’t know… just curious.”

“Oh. Okay then.”

The return on investment in scientific research conducted via NASA is better than any single investment in the past 100 years.

That’s an interesting list, and a compelling argument for NASA in general… As for the Mars mission, I suppose we’ll have to wait and see.

Well, they’ve definitely had to push the boundaries. Which is how we get the coolest new stuff.

For example, because of this mission, they were working on a very-low-cost rocket engine. They just had to scrap it as it exploded (literally), but more research comes out of that too.
